Not much has gotten done on the kitchen recently, but I did take advantage of having MLK Day off yesterday to finally install the undercabinet lights. They are BRIGHT! LEDs, of course.

The cabinet to the right of the stove is mounted to chimney, so there was no good way to get power under there. Wife is happy, so that's all that matters.

Yeah, he loves the towel. He won't touch the actual bed though.

The shallow drawers are just slabs, and the wide the deep  drawers and the doors are going to be Shaker style.

Is there a dimmer for the LED’s? C ause man, that’s like looking into high beams on the highway.

My wife wants to do the next step, putting the polyurethane on the shelves for the cabinets and the drawer fronts. She knows I hate that, and doesn't trust me to do a good enough job on that.   There isn’t a whole lot I can do until that’s done. Since I do genuinely hate painting or anything that resembles painting, I'm perfectly happy waiting.

They are dimmable, but I'm not putting the expensive switches in until the tile backsplash is done ... So probably this summer, to be honest.

That's where I got lucky. She enjoys repetitive tasks like that.

I wasn’t feeling judged. We  took the ornaments off yesterday. The tree is still up though :)

I took down everything down December 26th, fueled by my vivid memory of being 13 years old when my parents still had the tree up in APRIL

J ust hang some sunglasses next to the apron for general use until you can get the dimmer put in.

Ours will be down by the end of January, but we did once take it down on St. Patrick's day. That was before we had kids though.

In person it isn't as dramatic as it looks in the pictures. The light very much goes straight down to the counters, not in your eyes.

Remember those two little Shaker style cabinet doors I made a few months back? Well, they are in serious danger of being hung in the next couple of days.

Love the floor in your kitchen, BTW... We installed a felted vinyl floor that is quite similar.

Excellent!

We considered the vinyl, it’s a good product too.  I’m happy with what we chose.
